My experience of being a landlord came from buying my first property with no real plan or understanding of the PRS (Private Rental Sector) I then stumbled along for a number of years with my portfolio growing. I took the ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents) exams to become a qualified letting agent. Survived the 2008 crash through good luck rather than planning. It was at this point I realised I had to take control of my portfolio and plan for the future. Through personal research, networking and training I got to a place where not only do I enjoy being a landlord and Estate agent it also provides me a solid income and it is future proofed as much as it can be. I’ve helped many landlords over the years take stock of where they are, restructure where necessary and grow their portfolios. Compliance and Legislation is the backbone of any good portfolio and I feel this is something we all as landlords need to understand and keep on top off.
